Leipheim

Because of its location at the Danube, Leipheim not only offers nature experiences but also much history. The old town with castle, church and historical buildings, as well as the rectangular town wall invite to stay. The home and peasant war museum “Blaue Ente” lets you learn more about the past, while the main focus is on the first battle of the peasant war. During events, the museum serves its own brewed museum beer.

Another part of the city history is the children festival which was originally celebrated 1817 as Thanksgiving festival after a famine. Every year it takes place on the second weekend of July.

A paradise for animals and plants can be found in the “Donaumoos”, one of the largest fen complexes of the Danube plain. The local part of the Danube cycle path is characterized by alluvial forest.
