Langenau

BETWEEN DANUBE AND LONETAL

The location at the edge of the Swabian Alb and the atmospheric Donauried, as well as the close proximity to the idyllic Lonetal makes Langenau a good place to spend your leisure time. Relaxing walks, tours by bike or using inline skates are really appealing. A variety of leisure paths offer varied tours with topics like the Stone Age, water, mills, as well as animals and plants in the nature reserve Donauried.

Numerous caves in the nearby Lonetal/Geological Park Swabian Alb offer interesting insights. The valley, that emerged 200 million years ago got world-famous as an archaeological excavation site. One of the many finds were ivory figures like the “Vogelherd horse”, the mammoth and the “Lion Man”. They rank among the oldest artworks of humanity.

Groups can visit the interesting exhibition “world of groundwater”, provided by the institution for water supply. Langenau is also a perfect overnight stay and starting point for trips to the surrounding area, as the LEGOLAND in Günzburg and the old town of Ulm are only 20 kilometres (12 miles) remote.

Another attraction is the historical “Pfleghof” as a cultural centre in the heart of Langenau. Events that take place there are nationally acknowledged.

The modern swimming pool “nuBad” is an attractive destination for water lovers. During summer you can use the spacious outdoor pool arrangement. In the cold time of the year, an indoor swimming pool serves as an opportunity to swim or have fun with children. A modern sauna facility ensures a wellness experience at any time of the year.
