Passau

THE THREE RIVERS CITY

Because of its location at the three rivers Danube, Inn and Ilz, Passau is called the “Three River City”. Italian baroque architects created the baroque cityscape after a city fire in the 17th century. Midst the old town, the St. Stephan cathedral stands out with the world’s largest cathedral organ. The castle “Veste Oberhaus” and the pilgrimage church “Mariahilf” are located high above the rivers. Passau was a substantial art and culture city at any time and is proud of its vibrant cultural scene with five museums, numerous festivals, theatre and cabaret stages. The life in Passau is significantly characterized by the water. The special charm and flair of one of Bavaria’s most remarkable cities at the Danube can be experienced by boarding an excursion boat. Welcome to the “Three River City” Passau!
