Schelklingen

Schelklingen lies at the southern border of the Swabian Alb inside the biosphere reserve. Besides a tour through the historical old town, it is a good idea to visit the city museum, the castle ruin “Hochschelklingen”, the monastery “Urspring” with natural spring, or make a hiking/biking tour to the wonderful “Schmiechtal”.

The cave “Hohle Fels” inside the “Aachtal” got world-famous in 2008 when the “Venus vom Hohle Fels” was found – The oldest human sculpture (around 42.500 years old). Furthermore, in the same year, the “Geierknochenflöte” was discovered – The oldest musical instrument (around 40.000 years old).
