Pulsating life for 8.000 years: That’s Staubing, the “Heart of old Bavaria”, the modern old city at the Danube and the gate to the nearby Bavarian Forest. The world-famous “Roman Treasure Find” in the “Gäuboden” museum, the unique historical cemetery St. Peter and a picturesque medieval city complex with outstanding churches and artworks illustrate the significant history and nationwide importance. Even a piece of the work of Albrecht Dürer can be found here – the “Moser Window” inside the pontifical basilica St. Jakob. The town square with the symbol of the city, the late Gothic city tower, is not only a remarkable monument but also pedestrian zone, shopping mile and place to linger with a southern flair. A popular destination for families is the biggest zoo of Eastern Bavaria with 200 exotic and local wild animal species.
