THE SUNNY SIDE OF THE BAVARIAN FOREST
Two sceneries shape the region: the river landscape along the Danube, Isar and Vils with broad meadows and fields. Furthermore, the first mountains of the Bavarian Forest. Starting from the river valleys, the Bavarian Forest mountains extend as a green band along the horizon. Many viewpoints offer wonderful views over the river regions. Culture plays a big role, as first settlements already existed 5000 B.C. and around the year 800, the Bavarian Forest was reclaimed. Substantial museums and historical monasteries grant impressive insights into the past. The rivers form the heart for a big cycle path network, including culture, as well as perceptible nature. The Bavarian Forest mountains represent the hiking offering inside the “Lallinger Winkel”, around the “Hirschenstein” and inside the “Sonnenwald”.
