1 Breg- and Brigachaue

Start Donaueschingen

The tour starts at the train station in Donaueschingen. We follow the bike sign nr. 2 in the direction of the town center (“Stadtmitte”). Before turning right into the castle park, a detour to the well-known Danube source, which lies right next to the Fürstenbergischen Castle, is definitely worth it. After a beautiful water area we reach the end of the castle park und turn right in the direction of Hüfingen. Once we’ve reached Hüfingen, the path leads through the historic part of town. From there you will have a great view onto the mill canal and the city’s mill. Then the path goes on to the Roman bath ruin and we cycle on a forest road directly to Bräunlingen. Alongside the Buchhalde, we ride to the Remigius Chruch. From the Löwenbrauerei, we follow the Kirchstraße, passing city hall until we reach the mill’s gate. From here on, we ride past the city’s church, the Narrenbrunnen and the Kelnhof museum toward Bruggen. We cross the main road and also cross the Breg over a bridge, where the route will meet a causeway. After a longer part of forest road alongside the Schellenberg, we then reach Aufen. From here, we just follow the Brigach until we reach our starting point.
