Historic hiking trail

Donauwörth (circular route)

Auf den Spuren Donauwörther Geschichte

The hiking trail starts in the city centre of Donauwörth and leads you past historical buildings of the former free city. Afterwards, you will experience the promenade as "green lung" of the city until you reach the "Kalvarien" mountain and the "Schellen" mountain. The St. Felizitas church rewards your previous efforts with a beautiful view over the Lech-Danube valley. Only a few metres later, you will find the "Napoleon stone", a stone from which Emperor Napoleon observed his troops crossing the Lech river.

The next section of the trail leads you directly to the Danube. The Danube bridge is a perfect spot to see the Wörnitz river joining the Danube. Afterwards, the route follows the Wörnitz along the city wall to the original starting point.
