Ingolstadt - Regensburg

Stage 3

The third section of the bike trip starts in Ingolstadt. Along the leisurely flowing Danube you reach the small city of Vohburg. The historical old walls and city gates tell a 1200 years old story. A special natural spectacle is located between Weltenburg and Kelheim: The ‘Breakthrough of the Danube’. In this region the river flows trough the rocks of the Franconian mountain range. For this section we recommend to travel by ship because the route over the mountain is no pleasure. In Regensburg the Danube reaches its’ most northern point. A city that offers everything a tourist might want.

Most of this section is on calm country roads and on traffic-free cycling paths. Occasionally you need to take a road with normal traffic. The roads include some up and down sections.
